One of the nearby beaches is Playa Tamarindo, perhaps one of the most popular beaches in Guanacaste. This long sandy beach of clear sand gained popularity due to the quality of its waves for surfing in the 80's, and today, it has a vibrant beach village, where restaurants, bars, as well as various activities, both ecotourism and adventure, abound. Las Baulas National Marine Park, which protects Playa Grande as well as parts of Tamarindo and Langosta beach, is located about 20 minutes away, and is one of the places where you can see pristine and natural beaches as well as Leatherback sea turtles, which come to nest during some months of the year.
