Guanacaste

Guanacaste, in the northwest of Costa Rica, is our second largest province, and has the best beaches in our North Pacific, as well as extensive plains, mountain ranges, volcanoes and National Parks.  It also covers most of the Nicoya Peninsula, as well as several folkloric towns that not only developed Guanacaste folklore but permeated that of the whole country.

Beautiful beaches such like San Juanillo, Barrigona, Conchal, Grande, as well as high active volcanoes like Rincón de la Vieja, Cacao, Orosi, Miravalles create a natural setting that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world. Extensive national parks and reserves of various categories, with an incredible diversity, cover hundreds of thousands of hectares of the province. Such is the case of the Guanacaste Conservation Area, which protects coastline, dry tropical forests, wetlands and river estuaries, transition forests, cloud forests and even tropical rainforests.housands of visitors from all over the world.

Fauna and flora of Guanacaste are impressive as well, with huge crocodiles along the Tempisque River, very particular species of birds (some even recovering from extinction), reptiles, amphibians, mammals and insects characteristic of the dry tropics.  Many activities, such as river boat tours, horseback riding, adventure tours and ecotourism, will allow you to explore the environment and appreciate these species, although our glamping lodge already offers the possibility to do so… howler monkeys or Congos are frequent guests at GuanaGlamp!

History of the province

In 1824, the people who inhabited the territories that today make up the Guanacaste province decided to become a part of Costa Rica.  It is by far the best gift we have received as a Nation.  Guanacaste is, for us, the most beautiful province of our country, and it always ends up stealing the hearts of those who visit.  The beaches, the people, the sabaneros, the food… it is a world in itself, and we are blessed to be here, in this land that we love.  The province has been developing thanks to tourism, and in some areas there is already more cement than we would like.  We chose our property just one kilometer away from the main road, but it is a kilometer that will take you into the real Guanacaste, the silent and mysterious one, the one I enjoyed and loved as a child on my dad´s farm

This is what we want to share with you… the Guanacaste full of monkeys and birds in the trees, a mountain behind us, large pastures of cows around, and the most spectacular sunsets you can imagine.  You will feed your soul in our farm, and enjoy the best beaches and sites during the day, without having to travel long distances.
